For Baby's Sake - Great Big Walk for Herts
At For Baby's Sake, we provide families with therapeutic, trauma-informed support, to break cycles of domestic abuse. On October 13th, we walked 12 miles of the Hertfordshire Way. Please consider supporting us with a donation.
My story
At For Baby's Sake, we provide families with therapeutic,
trauma-informed support that breaks cycles of domestic abuse and gives babies
the best start in life.
Our
vision is for all babies to born with parents who are empowered to break cycles
of domestic abuse and provide safety, care, and connection. Our work is
vital. 1 in 5 children – over 138,000 babies born each year - will be exposed
to domestic abuse during their childhood.
For Baby’s Sake is the first programme for expectant parents that takes a whole-family approach, starting in pregnancy and dealing with the entire cycle and history of domestic abuse. Our fantastic practitioners work closely with each parent to identify and directly address the traumas that lie at the heart of the problem. Our therapeutic programme usually continues until the baby is two, covering the important time when a child’s brain is developing and bonds are forming.
The funds raised from this walk will help us continue the vital work we are doing with vulnerable families. Please consider supporting us in our mission to give babies the best possible start in life.
We completed our walk!
Oct 17, 2023, 3:49:39 PMOn the crisp autumn morning of October 13, For Baby’s Sake’s group of ambitious walkers gathered in Wallington, ready to embark on a 12-mile journey through the Hertfordshire countryside to raise money for The For Baby's Sake Trust. The walk was supported by Helping Herts, a Hertfordshire charity working to bring together remarkable local charities, united by a common goal: to improve the lives of our children and young people. Despite the forecast of downpours and sweeping wind, the day turned out to be lovely, with the sun even making an appearance. We had a brilliant day walking through the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside (on this day, fortune favoured the brave!). We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Reverend Sarah Richardson at Holy Trinity Weston, who generously opened her church doors to us along our walk. Her warm hospitality and the much-needed tea break she provided were a refreshing pit stop on our journey. And, of course, our trek through the beautiful countryside wouldn't have been as smooth and enjoyable without the guidance of Richard, Ian, and Ken from the Friends of the Hertfordshire Way. They brilliantly led us through the scenic Hertfordshire Way without a hitch. We thank everybody who has supported our walk by donating to our page already. The funds raised will make a tangible difference in the lives of the families we support. We're so thrilled that the walk was a great success, raising over £931 for The For Baby's Sake Trust. We are only £70 off our target of £1,000 - and we are determined to reach it! The funds raised will go towards our ongoing programme serving families and babies across the UK, helping to break the cycle of domestic abuse and give babies the best start in life. Your contribution means the world to us as we continue our mission to create a safer and brighter future for families in the UK.
